This is the first time that we are officially joining Frizztext’s A-Z archive photo challenge. This week’s letter is P and as such, my theme is on Prayer and Places of Worship.

We were pretty lucky when we visited Kuala Lumpur – our kind and generous hosts devoted an entire day for us to visit various places of worship. Here are a few photos from that visit.

Batu Caves, Hindu Shrine, Kuala Lumpur (KL) Malaysia

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.”
~ Martin Luther King Jr., A Testament of Hope: The Essential Writings and Speeches

Better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.  ~Chinese Proverb

National Mosque, KL

Certain thoughts are prayers.  There are moments when, whatever be the attitude of the body, the soul is on its knees.  ~Victor Hugo, Les Misérables, 1862

Prayer Offering with my daughter.

Prayer draws us near to our own souls.  ~Herman Melville, Mardi and A Voyage Thither, 1849

Myra is a Teacher Educator and a registered clinical psychologist based in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates. Prior to moving to the Middle East, she lived for eleven years in Singapore serving as a teacher educator. She has edited five books on rediscovering children’s literature in Asia (with a focus on the Philippines, Malaysia, India, China, Japan) as part of the proceedings for the Asian Festival of Children’s Content where she served as the Chair of the Programme Committee for the Asian Children’s Writers and Illustrators Conference from 2011 until 2019. While she is an academic by day, she is a closet poet and a book hunter at heart. When she is not reading or writing about books or planning her next reads, she is hoping desperately to smash that shuttlecock to smithereens because Badminton Is Life (still looking for badminton courts here at UAE - suggestions are most welcome).

    • Hi Linda, I thought that since we’re already doing Photo Journal, we might as well be strategic and also participate in challenges related to photo enthusiasts. I’m sure we’d also learn a lot from visiting other photo blogs. 🙂
