We are very excited to once again share with you our featured guests for our current bimonthly theme Dusty Bookshelves and Library Loot until the middle of September.
Meet the Storyteller
It is with great pride that we share with you Cyan Abad-Jugo‘s latest works for our current theme. Cyan is no stranger in GatheringBooks as we have done a feature of her work here for Poetry Friday, entitled No Longer There from her book of poetry Father and Daughter. We have likewise shared most of her father’s writings and poetic musings, Professor Gemino Abad, who was our Featured Poet in our Poet’s Sanctum several months back. Here is Cyan’s lovely photo and bio:
Cyan Abad-Jugo is the author of Father and Daughter (with Gemino H Abad), Leaf And Shadow: Stories About Some Friendly Creatures, and the young adult novel Salingkit:A 1986 Diary all published by Anvil Publishing. Her other fiction anthology, Sweet Summer and Other Stories, was published by UP Press. She teaches Literature and Creative Writing at the Ateneo de Manila University. She graduated from Simmons College in Boston with an MA degree in Children’s Literature, and from the University of the Philippines with a PhD in English Studies: Anglo-American Literature and Creative Writing.
Academic Nook
Since our current theme gives much-deserved love and recognition to libraries, we thought it best to have a Librarian’s Voice for our Academic Nook. I am very happy that Benjamin Farr from Tanglin Trust School has agreed to share a short write-up with us about what made him choose this honorable profession and how his love affair with books blossomed. Here is Benjamin’s gorgeous photo and his bio:
Benjamin Farr is a teacher-librarian at Tanglin Trust School, Singapore. Originally from Sydney, Australia, Benjamin is passionate about education and literature – particularly boys and reading. Having grown up in a country with a rich history of libraries, Benjamin has been saddened of late with the demise of the role of the teacher-librarian in Australian schools and has become an advocate in supporting the vital role they play in education. Other passions include travelling, cooking photography (oh, and of course his new cat, Madge).
