One of the reasons why I so love the libraries here in Singapore is because of brilliant initiatives such as this one:
Easy-peasy Rules:
- Bring your books to any public library from 13-27 April, 11.00 am to 8.00 pm. On 28 April, books are only accepted at the National Library Building.
- Collect a coupon indicating a one-for-one exchange for the books accepted.
- Bring your coupons to The Plaza, National Library Building, on 28 April to redeem other books.

We’ve exchanged around 15 of our used books now for coupons. Looking forward to having new ones this Saturday (at no additional cost to me). If you’re in Singapore, you can’t possibly miss this one. See you there!

Oh this is awesome. I think the one thing close to this in the U.S. Is paperbackswap.com and bookcrossing, but both involve mailing books.
Hi Janicu, I am thinking that this must have been a logistical nightmare for those who are doing the organization-end, but I have to say that my experience went smoothly. No long queues when you are about to ‘pay’ for the books you got with the coupons that you received. I also encountered no problem/difficulties when it comes to swapping my books for coupons during the time frame that they provided. Like clockwork, it all went smoothly. Amazing.
