For our Bimonthly theme this September and October, we are (for the very first time) paying tribute to a specific author: the unparalleled Roald Dahl.
This is inspired by Iphigene’s and Fats’ recent purchase of boxed sets of Roald Dahl books – perfect excuse to find a space for Dahl in GatheringBooks.
Since our Bimonthly theme is called: Everything Dahl and Magical, we would also be featuring works from other authors whose picture books or YA novels border on the surreal, fantastical, phantasmagorical, whathaveyou.

Great work Iphigene! Constantly amazed by your talents with graphic design. Eeez a gift, truly it is.
This allows us greater flexibility as well in terms of our book choices until end of October. If you have any recommendations of books that you think would be perfect for our theme, we’d love to hear from you. Cheers to the strange, magical, and surreal!

This going to be fun! I have just finished a wonderfully funny, snarky MG book “Leaving the Bellweathers” by Kristin Venuti… which, to me, had elements of both Lemony Snicket and Dahl in it. I think it could fit this theme and you would love it, whatever!
Hi Joanna! Will definitely check this out. I just checked online, it’s in our community library. Yay. Will borrow as soon as I get to visit the library this week. Thanks for the lovely recommendation.
I loved Dahl when I was a kid.
My all-time favorite was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
How exciting! Just posted about Dahl today
. Looks like a great Fall here at Gathering Books.
Hi Jama! I just visited your site and was salivating over your peach pie!! Nice! I wish I could bake/cook like you.
